34 - The Marmion

Just past Woolworths we come to the narrow doorway of what is now O'Keefs. This was however the site of The Marmion public house. Opened in 1971, this was another somewhat notoriously violent drinking-hole. This was the venue for the first town centre residency for Tamworth's then one and only 'punk DJ' Rikky Patrick (later Rikk Quay) - in 1978 he could be seen and heard here every Sunday and Thursday night. Now turn around and walk back down George Street.
